  20 April 2024

The UN General Assembly is set to hold its second high-level meeting on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in September 2024. The Global Leaders Group (GLG) on AMR has released a report outlining recommendations for the meeting, including a projected economic study that warns of a 1·8-year drop in global life expectancy by 2035, a $412 billion annual healthcare cost for treating antibiotic-resistant infections, and $443 billion annual productivity losses due to AMR.
